I’ve striven to refrain myself from posting radio show-related tidbits here, but perhaps this one you might be interested in. I cobbled together my fifteen favorites from the whole season and uploaded them to a folder here. If you happened to miss every episode, or happened to ask me what I’ve been listening to over these past five months, this is where I’d likely direct you. Enjoy, gang.
Norah Jones’ new album is really good. Plus she is pretty sexy. We should see her.

Partly because of my self-appointment here as Four Tet’s (maybe alarmingly obsessed) town crier, and partly because I’ve simply been sharing this on every single medium of social networking I can get my hands on, there is a new Four Tet single out:
Gilles Peterson also played the B-side on his show (now on BBC 6!) this past weekend, the clip of which has since been uploaded on youtube: Four Tet - Ocaras.
The other song that Gilles (I call him Gilles) mentions in an aside at the start of that clip is One Little Plane - She Was Out in the Water. The song was produced by Kieran (I call him Kieran) and Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood helped as well on it. It was put out on Four Tet’s label Text, which has had a fantastic early run — my favorite of the label’s finds so far is this guy: Juk Juk - Winter Turn Spring
And luckily there’s a way for all of these otherwise stream-only lovely beasts to be in your iTunes today. Do it do it do it.
Apologies for the splooge,
Consider this my sales pitch for these guys at Outside Lands. While none of these songs are new (they split up about seven years ago) this band’s reunion is easily in my top 3 to see there, and I’d like to drag some people along with me. Their album Sophtware Slump was one of the pillars of my mid-high school music Renaissance — but because I can’t command you to listen to all of it on repeat without somehow luring out your trust first, here are some of my favorites:
He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s The Pilot
Jed’s Other Poem (Beautiful Ground)
Now go listen to the rest.

hi josh. welcoming you with this song by TV girl. it’s good. it’s called “i wonder who she’s kissing now.” it makes me wish for a rainy sunday where i wake up on your couch not too hungover to enjoy pancakes, though i acknowledge the slim likelihood of this desire’s fruition.
hello again, and hope you like it.
To live up to the tremendous honor of being invited to this thread, I’ve been careful to choose an inaugural post that I’m sure won’t disappoint.
Sincerely,
The New Guy

Huge thanks to Hopkins for recommending this guy to me. I figured I ought to relay the suggestion here, since this is some wonderful postchella detox music. Beautiful, hushed, clever — this is all I’ve been listening to this week. Links below:
Oliver Tank - Last Night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion
Oliver Tank - Embrace (feat. Fawn Meyers)
Geoffrey O’Connor - Whatever Leads Me To You (Oliver Tank Remix)
Oliver Tank & Rainbow Chan - To Love Again (feat. Just Another Snake Cult)
this set is so good, i just booked a flight. i’m serious. germany, i’ll see you (and perhaps nina simone drops, if i’m lucky?) in september.
if the link doesn’t work, get at me and i’ll dropbox it.

This guy. This guy (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, T-E-E-D, Orlando Higginbottom, et al) is good. I go through phases, occasionally, where I like a musician so much I find myself seized by an irrational Midas moment (“Everything he touches is gold!”). I’m having one of those moments right now. Listen to him, if you haven’t already. Links below.
And, fuck it, just go to his Soundcloud page for the rest — current recommendations for others: Waulking Song and his remix of Professor Green.
P.S. Breaking news, gang — finally, after a two-year wait following that first, lonely, brilliant demo, Jai Paul finally came out with a new song last night, and I’m not disappointed:
hurting (tensnake remix) - friendly fires
hear this, the product of two bands noticeably absent from our forthcoming festival. did they want to remind us that nothing, no matter how great the lineup, is perfect?
- jenston (but thank josh friedman)
I’ve been doing a bit of combing in the Coachella lineup recently. Allow me now to set some of my favorite recent finds before you, without further comment. Apologies if you already know some — with any luck there will be some you don’t. Hope you enjoy, and hope you might be swayed to see some of these with me. Right-click, save as, as always, right? Happy safariing, gang:
FRIDAY
Amon Tobin - Slowly [perhaps my favorite find thus far]
Alesso - Years (Praise You Edit)
